Preparing for the Certified Bitcoin Professional exam

We often get questioned about how one goes about preparing for the Certified Bitcoin Professional (CBP) exam. This isn't necessarily an easy question to answer, as everyone has their own learning styles, but we hope that these resources will offer some guidance.

First off, you should really look for bitcoin and cryptocurrency meetups in your area. If you search on Meetup.com or bitcoin.it - Meetup you can currently find over 550 different meetups across 350 cities. Most meetups are very welcoming and full of others who are eager to help share information and answer questions.

As for online resources, for each section below, we will list some obvious ways of getting started (Searching!) as well as more specific articles. We will try to keep this updated moving forward but in no way should this be considered the ultimate resource. Many schools and sites will mature and cover these topics in more effective ways.

Also keep in mind that a number of these resources will provide information beyond the section they are found in, and beyond the scope of the Certified Bitcoin Professional. We will try to fix this over time as well.

While learning these topics, your goal should be to understand the topic well enough to explain it to another (i.e. what it is). Understanding the technical implementations is not necessary (i.e. how it works under the hood).

  1. History of Money and Ledger-based Economics
  1. Basic Cryptography (Ok this gets a bit technical! Don't get discouraged)
  1. Bitcoin Basics
  1. Mining
  1. Wallets, Clients and Key Management
  1. Bitcoin Commerce
